A Photo Alone Is Not Enough. Neither Is a Voice.
A photo has no explanation. A voice has no anchor. Together they make a whole person.
Look through your own family album, or your phone's camera roll. How many photos are there whose story you have already half forgotten?
Who took it? Where was it? What were they talking about at that moment? A photograph alone answers none of these.
A photograph never explains itself
A photo freezes a moment, but not the meaning of that moment. Who someone was, why they were there, what happened just before or after, none of that lives in the image.
Usually only one person can explain a photo: whoever took it, or whoever is in it. The moment that person is gone, the photo is permanently stuck at "we don't know".
A voice alone has the opposite problem
Hearing someone's voice is moving, but on its own you do not know how old they were when they said it, what they looked like as they spoke, or where this line sits in their whole life.
A voice note with no context feels intimate at first, and then quickly turns into just "that recording", detached from any actual story.
Together, they make a whole person
This is the actual mechanism of the books we make: a page carries a photograph, the words she said in her own language, and a QR code beside it that plays the original recording. The photo gives you her face. The text gives you the facts. The voice gives you the way she said it, the tone, the pause before the hard part. All three together bring back a person, not just information.
(People sometimes ask if this is a kind of audiobook. It isn't. An audiobook is someone reading words that were written by someone else. Every line here is her own word, in her own voice, not a script read aloud, but her actually telling you what happened.)
Memories fade. Their voice doesn't.
Let's talk. No decision needed today.
