之後有兩個方法，你揀啱佢嗰個。你自己問佢：我哋喺你部電話出題目，你坐喺佢隔籬，又或者你人喺外國，打個電話返嚟一樣做得到，佢淨係要開口講。佢唔使有智能電話，唔使識用WhatsApp，咩都唔使裝。或者佢自己答：如果佢用開手機，我哋send問題畀佢，佢想答幾多條就答幾多條。快慢由你哋話事，一個下晝答晒幾條最爽，想慢慢嚟一個禮拜一條都冇問題。
Then one of two ways, whichever suits them. You interview them: we put the questions on your phone and you sit beside them, or you are abroad and you call home instead, which works exactly the same, because all they have to do is talk. They need no smartphone, no WhatsApp, nothing installed. Or they answer alone: if they are comfortable on a phone we send the questions over and they answer as many as they feel like. The pace is yours: several in one afternoon if they are on a roll, or one a week if you would rather take your time.

Two or three minutes per question is plenty, so a handful of them comes and goes in the time it takes to finish a pot of tea. We prepare the questions, so you never have to think of what to ask, and you are not playing journalist: the person asking is you, their own child, not a stranger. They answer in Cantonese, as loosely as they like. We tidy it.
將錄音同相片，寫成一個故事，配返佢啲舊相。用邊種語言、照原文保留佢嘅口語定係寫成書面語，兩樣都係你哋揀。收齊錄音之後大約三至四個禮拜有書，印刷之前你會逐頁睇過同批准。
Recordings and photographs become a story laid out with their own old photos. You choose the languages, and whether we keep their spoken words as they said them or write the book in formal Chinese. About three to four weeks after the recordings are in, and you review the proof page by page before anything prints.

A small seal sits beside every quoted line. Scan it and you hear them telling that story themselves, not just words on a page. Sewn binding, acid-free paper, pigment ink: built to be handed down for a hundred years.
